Does anyone else get the feeling like they are not doing enough as a mom?
Have I made a dinner that is completely organic and gluten free? No I didn’t I completely ran out of time and just ordered a pizza! But… my son didn’t ask about bring his ipad to the table 🙂
Have I drank enough water today? Does coffee count?
Did I remember to buy whatever crazy named fruit or vegetable is a MUST have in our diet right now? Well ya know what if I can’t say it i’m not eating it!
judge not right???
Today’s world is big on putting their lives out there. Look at the growth social media channels have had and how many reality TV series there are to watch.
The down side is needing the likes and the comments to validate what you’re doing…
Or feeling like you need to look like the mom on TV in a Real Housewives series when she goes to the grocery store. Of course forgetting before she started filming she had a makeup crew standing by…
That feeling of being judged is usually carried with us wherever we go…
Wondering if you can make it to the grocery store without running into anyone because there is NOTHING you can do with your hair and putting on makeup with a 15 month old is nearly impossible…
Well i’m sorry last night I stayed up late and took sometime for myself to watch tv which of course means the baby woke up before the sun did…
remember we have control
“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” Eleanor Roosevelt
That gives us control…
In reality we allow it to happen by thinking about it and usually we are by far the worst critics of ourselves. People might or might not notice us at our far from best but we are aware of it.
Give yourself a break. Everything takes baby steps….
today let’s start controlling how we judge ourselves..
Start by avoiding all the thoughts about the stereotypes, the how it should be’s and all the other judgements we shackle ourselves to.
Don’t compare yourself to other people.
When you do find yourself thinking or acting this way…
Try to find something positive to re-focus on. Maybe it’s a scarf or nail polish color that you’re digging trying it out – anything even the smallest positive is better than any negative. Just take the first baby step in the other direction.
Most importantly pay attention to your thoughts because they are the front runner for our actions and our emotional response.
