For me becoming a mom is what made life make sense. Becoming a mom does change everything. It has also pushed me to make changes in myself and make decisions about what kinda life I want to lead.
Transitioning to motherhood was fairly easy for me. However, after his first birthday… reality set in.
Time was flying by and I started wondering where I was going.
I found that I was content to wear sweatpants all day and I covered the grays in my hair only when it was completely unbearable. My life was taking care of the baby, cleaning, and texting/social media.
sometimes you have to remember there is more than just being mom…
When my husband asked me what I had done for the day I almost felt insulted even attacked. Since this is a mom blog it really goes without saying how hard it is raising a family.
When I did see my phone bill each month I noticed how much time I did have to text and scrolling through social media there sure were a lot of updates Facebook… I began realizing I wasn’t using my time to the best of its potential.
You have to decide if what you’re doing is really the best use of your time. If it’s really taking the steps in the direction you want to go.
That of course is a personal decision.
how it started…
It started in prayers at night which lead to a clearer picture of what I was after. Then I started googling.
My family needed to be first but I knew, obviously, by my phone bill I did have some time on my hands so…
I researched and read then began to apply better ways of organizing my day. Everything was getting done the same as before and I was spending more quality time with my little guy.
Now having a more organized attack plan I actually had more free time for myself. That’s when I started thinking about wanting to work again. I just wasn’t ready for daycare or a nanny. I didn’t want to give up being a stay at home mom. I started googling.
Googling work from home kinda stinks. You get a lot of telemarketer jobs or you find jobs that end up being some kinda scam.
I took another approach…
First I found the dream job post. Then I took the requirements and ran with it.
I basically created a work from home curriculum. Those skills also carried over into being a mom and actually helped me become a better parent. In the process of learning those skills is how I stumbled upon a DREAM job as a Content and Communication manager after a year.
I was able to work part-time from home (or the occasional coffee shop) with flexible hours and all I needed was my laptop n’ wifi!
with the success of one thing…
It has motivated me to elevate other aspects of my mom lifestyle. That first step was a blessing. I have had high’s (another beautiful baby boy) and low’s.
All of it has been a gift from God which I am eternally grateful for.
Stepping out of my comfort zone has helped me along the path of creating a quality lifestyle for my family and myself.
This blog is my way of sharing what I have learned and to keep learning from everyone else…
